Being middle class in Maryland is tough. Well, let me rephrase that. Being middle class in America is tough. Once upon a time, middle class meant you made it. You had a good, secure job, an affordable home, decent healthcare and a reliable vehicle. Your children were sent to public schools that employed the teachers you remembered from your own past. Americans could rely on the pension plans set up by their companies to take care of them upon retirement. That has all changed for my generation and my daughter's generation. Bottom line? We're all screwed.
